National Masters Championships - 16 & 17 March 2019, Darwin

WE NEED YOU!

 

The National Masters Championships are being held in Darwin on 16 and 17 March 2019 and with a 13-lifter strong NT contingent, we are looking for volunteers to help us run the event.

 

We need:

 

SET UP and PACK DOWN VOLUNTEERS (As many as possible)


These volunteers will help us set up the venue once all the equipment is delivered. This will mostly be positioning floor protection, platforms, bars and weights, chalk buckets etc. This will be physical work but will only be within the venue. 

 

WARM UP VOLUNTEER (2 per session)

 

This role oversees the safe operation of the warm up area before and during competition. This person will be responsible for ensuring the warm up area is set up appropriately prior to the warm up for each session commencing, ensuring any trip or other hazards are identified and attended to, and deal with any issues arising in the warm up area. The role will also be responsible for ensuring nobody other than lifters, their designated coaches, medical personnel and technical officials are in the warm up area. 

No skill or experience is required. Potential hazards to look out for will be advised ahead of time. There will be someone for you to contact if you are unsure. 

 

ASSISTANT MARSHALL (2 per session)

 

Provide support and assistance to the marshall overseeing the attempt board/table and acting as the contact point between the marshall and the MC if technical equipment fails.

 

No skill or experience is required. You will be directed by the marshall.

 

BAR LOADERS (3 per session)

 

One required for each side of the bar with a third to assist and clean the bar and platform as required. Bar loaders are required to put the correct weights on the bar for each attempt and ensure the plates and collars are secure before each lift. 

 

Lifting ability is required. Experience with bar loading is helpful but not required. A cheat sheet will be provided for both women’s bar and men’s bar.

 

COMPUTER OPERATOR (2 per session)

 

The computer operator undertakes electronic scoring including entering starting weights, entering lift outcomes and getting instructions on weight changes from the marshall in the warm up area. Weight changes are to be communicated with the announcer.

 

Experience with the Michael Noonan scoring program is helpful but training can be provided. Computer will be provided.


MEDAL CEREMONY VOLUNTEER (1 per session)

 

This role will coordinate medals and arrange the podium for the medal ceremonies at the end of each session. 

 

No skill or experience required.
